Fencing
As described in our previous newsletter our 'Betafence' chartered status agreement is going from strength to strength.

Recent contracts completed include various schools in the Buckinghamshire area. 2.4m high Securifor 2D fencing has been the product we have recommended as it provides excellent security and strength combined with good visibility.

Photographs show the completed project. We will be monitoring in conjunction with the school the impact the fencing makes to the overall maintenance cost of vandalism and break-ins to the school. It has also now been demonstrated that school children are more likely to achieve better results if they feel safe in the school environment. Please contact us for a copy of a white paper recently published on school safety and security.

Fencing for Clays - the Publisher of the New Harry Potter Book
Clays recently completed the latest security sensitive Harry Potter novel. The company approached Pembury after a security breach on the previous publication. One of the issues the company needed to address was security at the printing works in Bungay.

Pembury won a tender to supply and install 2.4M high Nylorfor 3M around the perimeter plus two large automated canterlevered gates and various other swing gates with access control products. The access control system needed to be flexible enough to provide different levels of security depending on circumstances.

For instance during the Harry Potter print run, Clays were operating to a high security level with all staff and visitors randomly searched to prevent unauthorised copies of the book leaving the premises. The access control systems installed to the gates enabled Clays to carry this out effectively.

The heightened security issues of recent months have led to several large security projects. BP have now upgraded to locations with 3m high steel palisade fencing.

Testimonial Received from BP Oil Ltd

"BP during the last 12 months instructed Pembury Fencing Ltd to upgrade the perimeter fencing for two key operation sites. This work due to the nature of our business, handling highly combustible fuel along with the critical maintenance of high levels of security, required considerable expertise and a high level of diligence & professionalism throughout each project. Pembury have met all of our requirements and installed quality fencing and gates with minimal disruption to our operations."

Fencing for The Highways Agency
The Highways Agency appointed contractors Geoffrey Osborne to build a new purpose built depot for their operations. The specification for the fencing was a 2.4M coated green palisade fence around the perimeter, with an anti-intruder concrete beam buried below ground level.

An automated gate was required to maintain security at all times. Access to the site is required on a 24hr basis by depot vehicles such as gritting lorries and highway maintenance vehicles as well as standard staff cars.

The access control system required a twin control panel set at heights suitable for all vehicles. The system incorporates remote entry via key fob plus intercom, proximity card and keypad entry systems.

The gate and the automation equipment were all designed to deal with a heavy duty cycle. An important issue was the Safety aspect of the gate and therefore the gate was commissioned with safety beams, pressure sensors on all leading edges and induction loops.
